'Feasts and Festivals': Sankta Lucia

What's it all about?

Four years ago, I had a conversation with my friend Jenni about the traditional feasts and festivals that we have lost and no longer celebrate. I said I was interested in the food that went with them and she suggested I write a book about it. So I did and 'Cornish Feasts and Festivals' was published a few months ago.

The blog has expanded a bit since the beginning to include all sorts of national and international anniversaries and celebrations, some faith based, some pagan, some simply commemorating things and people that interest me.

Food is about so much more than eating. It’s about memory, childhood, culture and celebration. So this blog is not just about food – it’s about connections.

I don’t need much prompting to cook, but now and again I like to have reason to make a particular dish. I hope you enjoy reading the little essays as much as I do writing them. Leave a comment do!
