A Question?

Dear Friends

The first anniversary of this blog is just after Christmas. What do I do then? Most blogs can go on indefinitely but this one is so tied to particular celebrations that I'm worried about having to stretch your credulity too much after we've done the annual round once. There's only one Easter after all!

I could do it again and add more anniversaries and birthdays. I always feel a bit guilty (how silly is that) when I have to add something which is stretching the F & F remit a bit but I could also do more international celebrations....

So what do you think - all you my lovely readers?...please share your wisdom below or on facebook or to me by email. Thanks

xLiz

hi Liz,
i really have enjoyed reading your posts and discovering more about each festival. Feasts & Festivals is a very strong and informative body of work which would make a lovely book.
as regards continuation then perhaps you could invite folk to contribute thier stories of family, local traditions, recipes & customs and bring this angle into next year.
also you could look even further into other cultures and add a few more festivals?
warm wishes
ginny x

p.s. i love your header picture x

Thank you Ginny, much appreciated..

The picture is a photograph I took of a very old postcard of a painting by Edward Bawden. I love the bare trees..

Please don't give up. I love your posts and the way that you write about old customs. How about spreading your wings and giving us some other cultures and their foodie ways? Thankyou Liz.

I'm with the others. You have a great blog and I really enjoy reading your posts. There must be loads of feast days you haven't yet done. Maybe you could do a different take on the ones you've already done AND as you said there are many others from different cultures that must now be celebrated in the UK.

OH COME ON!!!!! Liz... PLEASE!!! what are you talking about... not only do you have a books worth of interesting material... and I mean this... find yourself a book deal NOW... who can think of anything better and more original that recipes from festivals throughout the year?... but also you can now broaden your horizons to other cultures, both in the UK and the rest of the world... are you sure you've covered every feast and festival... doubtful?... don't give up on us now... i could give you a billion meals from the Jewish holidays.... enough to fill a whole new book!

Do keep going please - I have loved reading your entries. I am sure there are plenty of ideas out there which you can include - certainly the Jewish festivals would be good (Latkes for Hannukah and Passover traditions for example), what about Eid too? With some festivals such as Christmas and Easter I am sure you will not have covered every angle, especially overseas variations.
I look forward to reading what's to come!
